Product: TrueCommerce Home (for Vendor)
TrueCommerce Home web vendor portal allows vendor users to create a Purchase Order Acknowledgement (PO ACK/EDI 855) as a return document required by Retailers for every Purchase Order (PO). The PO ACK document will help confirm products, costs, quantities, and ship dates. Sections, below, will delve into the necessities of the Ship Date on a PO ACK and explain why it is a mandatory field in the purchasing process.
What is Ship Date?
The Ship Date on a PO ACK represents the date on which the Vendor commits to ship the ordered products to the Retailer. This date can either be the confirmed date (when the Vendor is confident that the products will be delivered on time) or the estimated date (based on current circumstances such as production schedules or inventory levels).
Why is Ship Date Required?
When Vendors create a PO ACK, they are required to include the Ship Date, which communicates the anticipated arrival day of goods back to the Retailer. Below are some scenarios explaining why Ship Date is a mandatory field:
help Retailers know when to expect goods, thus minimizing the risk of stockouts and enhancing customer satisfaction with product availability
ensure that both parties adhere to the agreements regarding specific delivery timelines
IMPORTANT:
Failure to provide the Ship Date or fulfilling the shipping timeline may lead to disputes or damaged business relationships.
Vendors should provide the most accurate Ship Date based on current logistics capacities. In cases of unforeseen delays or logistics changes, it is best to promptly update the ship date in the PO ACK.
